This enables the process whereby the wine buyer can participate from the very first stage of the winemaking process starting at the vineyard of origin, through the Cellar and ultimately in the tasting panel to ensure that the buyers get exactly what they are looking for.

With the Cellar’s impressive size and the considerable variety of our grapes we now process some 28 000 tons of grapes of which 25% is red and 75% white. Along with being a cooler South-Easter enabled wine region , unique to the region is its great diversity of terroir which allows for the necessary cultivar variety with producers able to plant fashionable cultivars like Nouvelle, Petit Verdot and Viognier - this wider selection of wine styles has resulted in the Cellar presenting especially superb wines of late.

The Cellar’s recent technology upgrade to world class standards includes substantial investment in cold stabilization facilities, together with an expansion of wood maturation capacity.

Not only is Bonnievale Wine Cellar located in the scenic, verdant and fertile Breede River Valley, we are also in the enviable position of having three different cellar locales which allows us to manage a wider selection of grape and wine categories, thus enabling us to meet the varying wine style requirements of different markets and buyers.

we are able to manage each of our grape and wine classes altogether independently of each other, making it possible for us to track the grapes from the best wines back to not just the actual tank, but the exact vineyard where they were produced. The owners of these vineyards are encouraged to practise advanced grape growing techniques, to ensure that the cellar is able to produce premium wines year after year.

In addition our tasting panel, made up of the five qualified winemakers in our group, professionally ‘blind taste’ the wines on a weekly basis to ensure that the very best quality is maintained and encouraged.
