Bonnievale Workers’ Empowerment Trust
Having achieved our BEE accreditation the Cellar’s subsequent objective was to create advancement opportunities for previously disadvantaged employees which resulted in the creation of the Bonnievale Workers’ Empowerment Trust.

An initiative overseen by an equal number of workers and managers alike the Trust facilitates numerous projects geared to the financial empowerment of our workforce with all proceeds for the workers’ own profit.

The fundamental objective of this program is empowerment through knowledge and tutoring, and it is particularly gratifying to note the upward progression in the workers’ personal and financial development.

2009

Good news in our Golden year

Jolene Calitz-Le Roux, winemaker at Bonnievale Wine Cellar, was awarded the “best other white wine” at the Robertson Young Wine Maker of the year show as well as the National Class Winner for her Nouvelle. These grapes originate from Boesmansdrift Boerdery.

At the Sanlam Farm Worker of the year competition, Madelein Hartzenberg came first in the Administrative personal category.

2010

Bonnievale Cellar has won so many awards through the years that we decided a new & improved tasting room would be fitting. We feel that the Cellar is moving into a new era with our wines and that it needs to be accentuated by our tasting room. The Cellar relays tons of history and memories which will still be displayed in our new and improved tasting room. The new tasting room will be a testimony of how much the Cellar has grown since 1964.

We hope that with our changes guests will be able to enjoy our wine in a more relaxed & modern atmosphere. With our hospitality and friendliness we hope that guests will remember their Bonnievale Cellar experience.

The Bonnievale Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon / Shiraz 2008
A concentrated wine with a deep red colour, presents flavours of ripe plums, spices and hints of vanilla sweetness. On the palate it shows dark fruits combined with well balanced oak. A generous wine with a rich silky texture that finishes long and smooth. At a price you won’t believe!
